necktie onesie

I am venturing into the world of appliqué - this is what I call instant craft satisfaction, folks! I saw a necktie onesie on a baby at church a few weeks ago and knew I had to try to make it.

Christy, I hope you are not peeking ... this one's for you. :)

inaugural craft night

I am trying to organize a craft group with the ladies at my church and tonight was our first activity: scherenschnitte. We had a great time, and only one injury. Overall, a success!

Everyone did a great job, but Peggy out shined us all with her delicate flower card. She used a design from Cindy's Scherenschnitte blog. Thanks, Cindy, for letting us use your designs!

Erin made a cool long folding card with a mum cutout.

Jaime went with a mum as well, but I think this larger cut looks kind of like a water lily. Pretty. right?

Tonight just wasn't my night. After ruining about 3 templates and slicing my finger, I made this small silhouette scherenschnitte bookmark. I used another one of Cindy's designs, but you should go to her site to check out the real deal, because I left out about 99% of the details. I was fed up.

I am so excited for future projects with these girls!

cupcake mania

Sometimes I really don't know how to prioritize. Tomorrow is the first meeting of a little craft group I am getting together, but instead of cleaning my apartment or actually preparing for the craft, I made cupcakes. My rationalization is, if everyone is not having fun, at least there will be something good to eat. Food can make or break a gathering, I say.

I made yellow daisies in honor of Megan - it is her favorite flower (let's be honest - it was also in honor of having yellow food coloring on hand). If Meg wasn't having a sock animal emergency, she might have been here decorating, too.

My apartment got surprisingly hot tonight, so the frosting wasn't cooperating as well as I would have liked. Instead of making a regular frosted rose, I piped them to look like ric rac flowers (one of the many projects on my to-do list). Have you ever seen them?

Megan and Mitzi gave me this cute cupcake tree for Christmas (thanks, guys!). I makes me want to bake cupcakes 24 hours a day.

In other cupcake news, did you know that it is Cupcake Week at Martha Stewart? There is even a Cutest Cupcake Contest on the website.

I'm feeling the cupcake love ... are you?
